In an anesthesized world the image is law.

If a brave reporter did a serious investigation on drowning migrants, on brutal police violence, on racial segregation, he wouldn't have a big audience.

But if a passer-by has a cellphone and takes a picture or a video, the history changes. People need to see blood or death to find out themselves so democratic. The viral popularity of victims and of unprofessionals reporters is the collateral effect . If we're lucky,  political ideals and human sympathy become servants of entertainment; if we're unlucky, they just become pure entertainment.
